Liao Zhang is a super senior PhD student in the Department of History at Michigan State University. He is from China, and he speaks Chinese, English, and Russian. He has received training in Russian, East European, and Eurasian history at large. His doctoral research focuses on the Russian Far East's transformation in the Soviet era.
Liao is also interested in understanding the world through the lens of geography. He likes reading maps and tries to improve his know-how in geospatial science.
Liao's hobbies include binge-watching The Office (well, mostly just the first seven seasons) over and over again and slurping Korean instant ramen, or watching The Office while eating Korean ramen.
